As usual and as expected, the President sent the unsolicited Singlish SMS to all mobile subscribers today to greet for Wesak. My problem is why does he have to do it in Singlish at a time Unicode is so advanced? Cannot the authorities make mobiles Unicode compatible as yet?

Sri lanka and India registered only a limited number of characters in the unicode consortium. This is a problem with the entire indic language group. Unicode consortium now reaching the max allocations and they have no space to include the indic group which is close or more to a million of characters. (indic group == means all the language characters in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan and Afghanistan)
I have been publishing many articles relating to this and we got to go beyond Unicode. Our group will have to develop a encoding consortium by our selves.
Since all sinhala and tamil characters does not have UTF values registered in unicode. computers cannot access the unregistered characters without an aid of another sub program. Those who develop these sub programs have their own encoding for the balance characters and it is not compatible across all platforms.
I have the solution. If you can meet me I can enplane.

There is no problem in representing Sinhala in Unicode. Donald has been blowing this for the past few years and no one really gives him a damn.
However there is a practical problem in making mobile phones Unicode compatible. Most of the OSs that run on mobiles don’t support unicode or Sinhala natively. (Windows started supporting it natively only few years back).

Please publish the UTF values for the sinhala characters.
Sinhala registered in the unicode is incomplete and incorrect that is why it cannot be used across all platforms of any operating system.
This is the problem I am addressing. Nobody understand the issue hope the HE president will read these communications. Hope HE the President will have some time to see my presentation soon
